Zeeman has been recognized in the Sustainable Brand Index 2025 as the brand Dutch consumers perceive to be the most sustainable in the clothing industry, earning the Industry Winner designation in Clothes & Fashion.

The Sustainable Brand Index is Europe’s largest independent brand study in sustainability. Since 2011, it has measured annually how consumers evaluate 1,600 different brands across 36 sectors on sustainability. This year’s results show that Zeeman is perceived as the most sustainable brand in the Dutch clothing industry. Kasper Figee, Team Lead for Branding & Campaigns at Zeeman: “We are proud of the result of this index. It shows that consumers value our efforts in sustainability.”

Zuinig as a core value

At Zeeman, sustainability has been high on the agenda for many years now. The brand actively works toward a responsible production chain, for example by increasingly using sustainable materials. It also initiates programs for customers, such as clothing recycling and the second-hand concept Re-use, through which Zeeman sells second-hand clothing in a growing number of stores.

In a currently running campaign, Zeeman is also encouraging customers to combine vintage second-hand pieces with its own timeless clothing, to show that being hip and zuinig go hand-in-hand. “Our mission is to make affordable clothing accessible to everyone, while being zuinig with people, society, and the environment. The fact that consumers perceive us as the most sustainable within our industry motivates us to continue this course,” Figee affirms.

Zeeman continues to work toward further sustainability. The focus here is on fair working conditions, transparency in the supply chain, and further mapping out environmental impact in order to reduce it. Figee: “We continue to take steps to keep fair fashion accessible to everyone.”
